Week 2 Simple Mom: Paper Clutter

Paper Clutter is enough to drive anyone crazy. To attempt to fight the clutter this is the system we currently have. As mail comes in we drop it into 3 categories: addressed to me (or the boys), addressed to Sean, and magazines or catalogs I want to look through at some point.

Why is this the hardest part? Dropping into the bins...not the desk :)

Once a week I will go through my bin and then divide into sub category files: Gavin, Bentley, To be filed, Bills etc. I keep these files with others such as menu planning, coupons, recipes I want to try. I store them in an itso container from Target. Love, Love the itso containers they are everywhere in my house. All papers to be recycled go into the white tin.

Any outgoing mail will be hung on the magnetic board which is conveniently hung next to the door.

I have been overdue to go through my bin. so that is how I used this week's challenge: just tidied up my current system. The only way the system works is if I use it!

Project Simplify

So I truly love to organize, although because of one baby, one toddler, house projects in constant motion, a hubby who loves to hang on to "stuff" and work, my house does not always reflect this passion. It is a constant battle. It seems as soon as I have reorganized a closet, I have to add extra stuff because of a new demolition project going on somewhere else in the house. In order to jump start my "spring cleaning" this year I will be following the project simplify over at simple mom.

The first project is my closet. This was actually a quick fix for me as I did this last spring when we redid Gavin's bedroom and our bedroom. I had sweaters from high school! Talk about out dated. I used to take up 3 closets in our house BC (before children) I now have minimized everything done to 1. (Well 1 1/4 as I do have some dresses in Sean's closet) I purged tons and tons last spring. I have not done a ton of clothes shopping since before I had Gavin. I have clothes in a couple of sizes d/t having babies. ( I am hanging on to most of them as I hope to have atleast 1 more baby :) )

Before Pictures:

What I did: Put away baby clothes in storage, reorganized my tank tops/camis, and just neatly put away my clothes. I also took the opportunity to mop the closet floor. Where does all that dust come from anyway? Yuck!
