Week 2 Simple Mom: Paper Clutter

Paper Clutter is enough to drive anyone crazy. To attempt to fight the clutter this is the system we currently have. As mail comes in we drop it into 3 categories: addressed to me (or the boys), addressed to Sean, and magazines or catalogs I want to look through at some point.

Why is this the hardest part? Dropping into the bins...not the desk :)

Once a week I will go through my bin and then divide into sub category files: Gavin, Bentley, To be filed, Bills etc. I keep these files with others such as menu planning, coupons, recipes I want to try. I store them in an itso container from Target. Love, Love the itso containers they are everywhere in my house. All papers to be recycled go into the white tin.

Any outgoing mail will be hung on the magnetic board which is conveniently hung next to the door.

I have been overdue to go through my bin. so that is how I used this week's challenge: just tidied up my current system. The only way the system works is if I use it!

Project Simplify

So I truly love to organize, although because of one baby, one toddler, house projects in constant motion, a hubby who loves to hang on to "stuff" and work, my house does not always reflect this passion. It is a constant battle. It seems as soon as I have reorganized a closet, I have to add extra stuff because of a new demolition project going on somewhere else in the house. In order to jump start my "spring cleaning" this year I will be following the project simplify over at simple mom.

The first project is my closet. This was actually a quick fix for me as I did this last spring when we redid Gavin's bedroom and our bedroom. I had sweaters from high school! Talk about out dated. I used to take up 3 closets in our house BC (before children) I now have minimized everything done to 1. (Well 1 1/4 as I do have some dresses in Sean's closet) I purged tons and tons last spring. I have not done a ton of clothes shopping since before I had Gavin. I have clothes in a couple of sizes d/t having babies. ( I am hanging on to most of them as I hope to have atleast 1 more baby :) )

Before Pictures:

What I did: Put away baby clothes in storage, reorganized my tank tops/camis, and just neatly put away my clothes. I also took the opportunity to mop the closet floor. Where does all that dust come from anyway? Yuck!

Project 365

I haven't post in well over a year, but in order to try to help me stay on top of my project life kit. I want to start posting them here. I know my dad will be glad again!
Week 1 Jan2-Jan8

Sean is such a hard worker and always has a project going. He is now working on the first floor bathroom. I am loving the blue glass tile. We are hoping to have the bathroom up and running by next week when we will have four more people living with us for the weekend.

One of my goals this year is to focus on keeping the desk organized. You see the desk as soon as you walk in from the garage and it drives me crazy when it is not organized. We are hoping to buy a new desk that we can all use in the next month or so.

Nightly routine for Gavin after reading with Mommy or Daddy (if he we have time we both will read him a book) He talks with Daddy. Gavin uses his flash light and say "Tongues" and he checks Sean's tongue with the flash light. "Teeth", Gavin checks his teeth and than he says "Your teeth like a small dinosaur!"

Since Gavin started to use the potty, keeping his pants and underwear has been challenge. This is classic Gavin right now half dressed and running track around the family room.

Nana came over to play with the boys and put them to put so Rory and I could go to our first pilates class at Tremont's studio 11.

Gavin is enjoying the snow. Favorite winter activities: falling or throwing himself into the snow and sledding in our yard.

Bentley is blowing raspberries all of the time and what makes it funny is he is so full of drool that spit is constantly flying out of his mouth!

Introducing Gabriella Grace Pritchard. My dad and I headed to the hospital at 330 in the am but headed back home soon after. My dad beat me to the hospital later but as I was walking into the hospital at 9:56 am my cutie niece was born. Eddie and Aurelija created such a beautiful little girl.

This was my project today. First Gavin and I had to go the grocery store which is always interesting. Thank goodness for Heinen's putting the groceries in my car! We made this cake for Erica's birthday. Gavin loved the frosting.
